Showcasing Forage: A Day with Wine Writer Nick Ryan

We recently had the pleasure of hosting Nick Ryan, wine writer for The Weekend Australian Magazine, at Forage HQ in Tanunda. It was a great opportunity to share a few bottles, show him around the property, and give a behind-the-scenes look at what we're building here at Forage.

After tasting through the range in our cellar, we took Nick through JAM House - our new winery space. The day wrapped up in true Barossa fashion: a few local stops (including the Tanunda and Valley Hotels) and a night at the stunning Rogasch Cottage.

We were stoked to see Nick's review capture the heart of what we're doing. The 2023 Chardy Party was described as having "slated melon rind, some peach, a bit of lemon pith" with "punchy acidity, refined fruit richness, energy and drive", scoring 90 points. The 2024 Baby Face Field Blend No.6 was praised for its "fragrance and energetic juiciness" with notes of "ripe raspberries, musk sticks and a little spice", earning 93 points. The 2021 Cottage Reserve Shiraz received 95 points, celebrated for its "dark chocolate and rich earth, roast meat and preserved plums... generous through the middle, tapered by fine-grain tannins through the finish."

We're grateful for the thoughtful review and even more so for the great conversation shared over a few pints. Big thanks to Nick for making the trip and shining a light on what we do.
